Fernanda Eva was born in Brazil, where she became a visual artist after studying oil painting at the traditional "Liceu de Artes e Ofícios de São Paulo" for four years, until 1996. She pursued a two-year specialization in "Art History" at the Armando Alvares Penteado College and, in 2010, she earned a Master's degree in "Visual Poetics" from ECA - University of São Paulo. In her master's thesis, the artist discusses her production of works with a Paradise theme, always painting landscapes, sometimes based on photos she took herself, and other times not, which are reinvented on the canvas with very colorful paints. She also exhibits various portraits of people with animals, "The Animals of Art," another of her passions.
In 2015 and 2016, she did an artistic residency in Porto, Portugal, where she developed the theme of Portuguese tiles with her animals, monuments, characters, and typical landscapes. She obtained Portuguese citizenship by ancestry.
Having traveled to many environmental conservation areas in Brazil and recognizing the danger of extinction facing various animal species, and after doing an artistic residency in the Porca Preta Gallery in Monchique, Algarve, one of the regions devastated by wildfires in Portugal in 2018, she started creating paintings with an environmental preservation theme, expressing this through the portrayal of fauna and flora to raise public awareness. After enjoying the series of tiles, the artist began the series "Cataloging of 21st Century Animals" as a way to leave a record for the future of animals in danger or not in danger of extinction. In this exhibition at the Porca Preta Gallery in Malhada Quente, Monchique, from October 21 onwards, the artist presents 5 tile canvases in a playful tone and 17 canvases depicting birds from this "Cataloging of 21st Century Animals" series. All of them are new. Her encounter with nature in the Monchique mountains was so intense that she abandoned life in the bustling metropolis of São Paulo some time ago and now lives in Monchique.
She has exhibited her work in various countries such as France, Chile, Cuba, Portugal, Brazil, Denmark, etc., and her works are part of several collections.
